WORLD NO TOBACCO DAY OBSERVED BY SEALDAH DIVISION

Kolkata : World No-Tobacco Day, observed annually on May 31st, is a global initiative led by the World Health Organisation (WHO) to raise awareness about the harmful effects of tobacco use and advocate for effective policies to reduce its consumption.

Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) like nicotine lozenges/ gum/ patches, anticraving medicines, counseling, online support groups & a toll free national helpline number 1800-112-356 (India) are available to help you to quit tobacco. Global theme for this year’s celebration is – “Protecting Children from Tobacco Industry Interference”

A health awareness programme on “World No Tobacco Day” was organised at Sealdah Station . A small skit was performed with huge enthusiasm by nursing students. Dr Achintya Sanyal and Dr Sujata Basu briefly discussed adverse effects of tobacco on human health. MD/B.R.Singh Hospital Dr Subhasish Das also graced the occasion.

Spontaneous participation of doctors, paramedical employees, nursing staff and daily commuters turned the awareness programme into a grand success.
