Lotus Rescue Presents Transgender Day of Visibility  as a part of their Vishnupriya Project

Kolkata : Lotus Rescue, a dedicated NGO committed to supporting disadvantaged children,women and transgender community, in association with Lions Club of Kolkata Empowering presents Transgender Day of Visibility, as a part of their Vishnupriya Project. This unique event aims to educate and empower members of the transgender community to pursue their goals.

Madhulika Gupta  gave a motivating address to the transgender community, encouraging them to come out and live life with dignity. In order to further ensure its effectiveness, a saree draping workshop by Babita Agarwal was also conducted, where the participants learned several styles of saree draping, which enable them to pursue this as a career and make a living. The participants were given a certificate to attend the session.

Recently, Lotus Rescue had proudly launch Project Vishnupriya. This groundbreaking project aims to empower the transgender community by providing them with essential skills and education, helping them breaks free from begging and establish a sense of identity and self-respect in society. Currently, the project is serving a total of 25 LGBTQ and transgender individuals.

Speaking on this occasion, Ruplekha Sinha Roy, Founder, Lotus Rescue said, ‘We have 25 LGBTQ and transgender people under the Vishnupriya Project, which is a project that aims towards promoting inclusivity, dignity, and independence for the transgender community. We are making every effort to empower them. We are arranging events every month to bring them to the public attention,so that people come forward and help the transgender individuals to pursue their aspirations such as learning to drive, enroll in beauty courses, pursue higher education, or master spoken English. Like everyone else, they want to do a lot. Through such events, we aim to attract donors or corporate who can cater to their aspirations.”

The special guests of the event, Amrita D Mitter, Director of Golfview Healthcare and Research Institute, and Priyanka G Karmakar, Managing Director of GMPL,  graced the occasion with their presence.

Lotus Rescue’s Project Vishnupriya marks a significant milestone in the NGO’s mission to support and uplift marginalized communities. Through this initiative, Lotus Rescue continues to make strides towards a more inclusive and equitable society.
