Birbhum : Birbhum district in West Bengal experienced unexpected heavy rainfall starting Friday evening, defying initial predictions of minimal impact. The rain intensified post-sunset, causing waterlogging in Suri, Rampurhat, Bolpur and Mohammad Bazar areas.
Although Cyclone Danas has weakened, its remnants continue to influence South Bengal’s weather as a low-pressure system. Local farmers reported some loss to paddy crops.
With Kali Puja approaching, organizers are concerned about the rain’s impact. However, Ujjal Dhibar, a senior member of Nabin Club’s puja committee in Rampurhat, expressed relief that their pandal remains intact, with outdoor work temporarily halted.
