Birbhum : A shocking incident has come to light in Tarapith, Birbhum, where a homemaker accused three youths, including two minors, of gang-raping her under the guise of resolving her marital disputes. The accused, coworkers of the victim’s husband, recorded the assault and threatened to circulate the video online.
The victim’s husband revealed that the couple had a quarrel on Laxmi Puja day, leading the victim to visit her parental home in Tarapith with her mother. The accused promised to resolve their marital issues but instead committed the heinous crime.
Initially, the husband reported the incident to Mallarpur Thana, where they reside, but was redirected to Tarapith Thana since the crime occurred there. The Tarapith police promptly responded, arresting the three accused youths on November 4.
In the Rampurhat court, government lawyer Saikat Hati stated that the accused, Supriya Roy, has been ordered to two days of police custody. Two 17-year-old accused have been sent to the Berharampur Ananda Ashram government home for 14 days by the Juvenile Justice Board.
