Eastern Railway Kolkata Railway West Bengal

Kolkata: With the festive season approaching and a surge in passenger movement expected, Sealdah Division has appealed to all travellers to manage their time effectively and arrive at their designated platforms well in advance of train departures.

The railway authorities emphasized that reaching early is crucial for ensuring smooth boarding, avoiding last-minute chaos, and preventing unnecessary disruptions. Sealdah Division has also strongly urged passengers not to resort to alarm chain pulling under any circumstances, reminding that it not only causes significant delays but is also a punishable offence.

Passengers have been advised to:

  • Arrive at the station before the train’s scheduled departure.
  • Check platform numbers in advance to avoid confusion.
  • Listen carefully to announcements for updates or changes.
  • Carry minimal luggage to move easily through crowded areas.
  • Avoid pulling the emergency alarm chain, as it disrupts schedules and affects countless fellow passengers.

To handle the festive rush, Sealdah Division is deploying additional staff for crowd management and passenger assistance. Still, the cooperation of travellers remains vital for the efficient and timely operation of services.

Divisional Railway Manager, Rajeev Saxena, expressed gratitude for passenger understanding and cooperation, stating:
“We understand the urgency to board trains, but we appeal to everyone for patience and discipline. Only with your cooperation can we ensure safe and timely boarding for all passengers this festive season.”
