Kolkata: In observance of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Manipal Hospital EM Bypass—a unit of one of India’s largest healthcare chains, the Manipal Hospitals Group—joined hands with Ladies Circle India (LCI) to organize a special awareness programme focusing on education, early detection, and support for women affected by breast cancer.
The event featured leading specialists including Dr. Neha Choudhary, Senior Consultant and Department Head, Surgical Oncology (Breast Surgery), Manipal Hospital, Mukundapur Cluster; Dr. Pooja Agarwal, Consultant, Surgical Oncology (Breast Surgery), Manipal Hospital EM Bypass; and CR. Mansi Shah, National Special Events Convenor, Ladies Circle India. Together, they underscored the vital importance of early detection and community participation in saving lives.
Aligned with this year’s WHO theme — “Every Story is Unique, Every Journey Matters”, the programme emphasized recognizing each woman’s individual journey with breast cancer while spreading awareness about preventive measures and timely medical care.
As part of the initiative, Ladies Circle India launched the Mammo Mission — a nationwide campaign aimed at empowering underprivileged women through education, awareness, and free screening. The mission’s strong message — “Check. Thrive. Protect.” — encourages women to prioritize self-examination and proactive health management. In Kolkata, the campaign found a strong ally in Manipal Hospitals, which partnered with LCI to mark Breast Cancer Awareness Month with this impactful collaboration.
The awareness event included interactive sessions on preventive lifestyle habits, self-breast examination techniques, and the latest advancements in breast cancer treatment. Women from diverse walks of life participated enthusiastically, engaging in discussions on health, emotional well-being, and the power of early detection.
In a significant gesture of support, Manipal Hospital EM Bypass announced free consultations with its doctors exclusively for members and participants from Ladies Circle India. Based on clinical evaluations, up to 20 complimentary mammogram screenings will be provided under this initiative to those advised by the consulting doctors.
During her address, CR. Mansi Shah said,
“The Mammo Mission is our way of reminding every woman, especially those from underprivileged backgrounds, that early detection can save lives. Through awareness sessions and screening camps, we aim to educate, empower, and encourage women to Check, Thrive, and Protect their health. We are deeply grateful to Manipal Hospital for partnering with us in this life-saving initiative.”
Dr. Neha Choudhary added,
“Every breast cancer journey is unique, but the path to survival begins with a shared, crucial step: early detection. We must empower women through regular self-examinations and timely mammograms. Let’s replace fear with knowledge and unite in the fight against breast cancer with awareness and action.”
Dr. Pooja Agarwal stated,
“Knowledge and timely action can make all the difference. With the Mammo Mission, we’re ensuring every woman has access to awareness and screening. Every journey counts, and early care can transform fear into courage and survival.”
This collaboration reinforces Ladies Circle India’s commitment to creating meaningful social impact through service and education, while highlighting Manipal Hospital’s dedication to preventive healthcare and community outreach. Together, they aim to transform breast health awareness from a message into a movement of empowerment and hope.
