CISF Coastal Cyclothon 2025: A Historic Initiative for Coastal Security

Kolkata: A press conference was organized at Conference Hall of the CISF Administrative Office, ASG Kolkata, to provide details and highlight the significance of the Coastal Cyclothon on the occasion of CISF Raising Day 2025. The event was chaired by Shikhar Sahai, IG/NES-II HQ Kolkata, in the presence of K P Singh, DIG/NEZ-II, and Ajay Kumar, DIG/CASO ASG Kolkata.

The CISF Coastal Cyclothon 2025 is a historic initiative aimed at raising awareness about coastal security and combating smuggling, drug trafficking, and illegal activities.

The theme of the event is “सुरक्षित तट, समृद्ध भारत” (Secure Shores, Prosperous India), emphasizing the protection of India’s extensive coastline.125 CISF cyclists, including 14 women, will undertake a rigorous journey covering 6,553 km along India’s coastline.

The cyclothon will commence from two locations: Lakhpat, Gujarat (West Coast) and Bakkhali, West Bengal (East Coast), culminating at Swami Vivekananda Memorial, Kanyakumari.

Hon’ble Home Minister Shri Amit Shah will virtually flag off the cyclothon on March 7, 2025, from CISF Regional Training Centre, Thakkolam, Ranipet district, Tamil Nadu.

Route Details and Major Events:

Western Route (3,775 km):

Starts at Lakhpat Fort, Gujarat (March 7, 2025, 08:00 hrs). Passes through major cities such as Surat, Mumbai, Goa, Mangalore, and Kochi before reaching Kanyakumari.

Major Events:

Lakhpat Fort, Gujarat (March 7) – Official Flag-Off Ceremony.
Gandhidham (March 9) – Community Awareness Drive.
Surat (March 17) – CISF Cyclist Interaction & Awareness Program.
Gateway of India, Mumbai (March 20) – Mumbai Police Band & CISF Fire/Dog Squad Drill.
Mormugao Port, Goa (March 23) – Cultural Performances & Local Engagements.
Mangalore (March 26) – Bharatanatyam, Bhangra, Folk Dances, and Patriotic Drama.
Kannur (March 27) – Awareness Campaign & Public Engagement.
Cochin (March 29) – CISF Band Performance & Cyclist Meet-up.

Eastern Route (2,778 km):

Starts at Bakkhali Beach, West Bengal (March 7, 2025, 08:00 hrs). Covers major locations including Haldia, Konark, Paradeep, Vizag, Chennai, and Pondicherry, concluding at Kanyakumari.

Major Events:

Bakkhali Sea Beach, West Bengal (March 7) – Flag-Off Ceremony.
Konark, Odisha (March 13) – Cultural Performances & Awareness Talks.
RK Beach, Vizag (March 17) – Public Awareness Campaign & CISF Demonstrations.
Chennai Port (March 25) – Traditional Dance Performances & CISF Fire Drill.
Pondicherry (March 26) – Community Engagement Programs.

Special Features and Public Participation:
The Coastal Cyclothon is not just a cycling event but a national movement to enhance coastal security awareness, environmental conservation, and community participation.

Public Participation:

Individuals can join physically along any segment of the route. Those unable to participate physically can join virtually by registering at www.cisfcyclothon.com.

Engagement Activities:

Cultural Shows by school children and NCC groups. Awareness Drives about coastal security, smuggling prevention, and environmental conservation. Swachh Bharat Abhiyan drives, tree plantations, and community meet-ups. Traditional dances, patriotic dramas, and demonstrations by CISF personnel.

A grand finale will be held at Vivekananda Kendra, Kanyakumari, where cyclists will be welcomed with performances, demonstrations, and a closing ceremony.
