New Delhi: In a landmark initiative, the Department of Hospital Administration at Army Hospital Research & Referral (AHRR), New Delhi, hosted the first-ever Armed Forces National Conference — SHAPE 2025 (Sustainable Hospital Architecture, Planning, Infrastructure & Equipment) on July 26-27, 2025.

The two-day event brought together over 275 experts from the Armed Forces and civil sectors, including doctors, nurses, architects, engineers, and hospital administrators. Inaugurated by DGAFMS Surg Vice Admiral Arti Sarin and AIIMS Director Dr. Srinivas, the conference marked a pivotal moment in India’s healthcare transformation.
As India advances towards Viksit Bharat@2047, SHAPE 2025 emphasized the urgent need for sustainable, climate-resilient, and patient-centric healthcare infrastructure. Discussions spanned green technologies like solar power, disaster-resilient design, zero-emission systems, and healing architecture. The conference also highlighted standards like GRIHA ratings and CFEES certification.
SHAPE 2025 has laid the foundation for a unified national vision where hospitals are not just functional spaces but eco-conscious, future-ready ecosystems. The Armed Forces have set a precedent — redefining healthcare preparedness in line with environmental and national priorities.
