Kolkata: As part of its ongoing Civic Action Programme, the Assam Rifles is conducting a National Integration Tour for members of Jiri Ima Meira Paibi Apunba Lup (JIMPAL) from the Jiribam district of Manipur, with Kolkata serving as a key destination in the multi-city initiative aimed at fostering national unity and cultural exchange.
The delegation arrived in Kolkata to gain firsthand exposure to the rich historical, cultural, and social fabric of eastern India. During their stay, the participants visited some of the city’s most iconic landmarks, including the Victoria Memorial, a symbol of India’s colonial history and architectural grandeur, and Eco Park, one of Asia’s largest urban parks, known for its unique display of replicas of the Seven Wonders of the World.

These visits provided the participants with an enriching and immersive experience, allowing them to engage with India’s diverse heritage while deepening their understanding of the country’s shared cultural ethos. Interactions during the tour highlighted the importance of people-to-people connections in strengthening national integration, especially between the Northeast and other regions of the country.
The National Integration Tour is a flagship initiative of the Assam Rifles, designed to broaden perspectives, promote mutual respect, and reinforce the bonds of unity that connect communities across India. The programme also seeks to showcase the rich traditions, values, and contributions of the Northeastern states, fostering greater awareness and inclusivity.
In the next phase of the tour, the JIMPAL delegation will proceed to Bhubaneswar, where the cultural exchange will continue through further interactions and visits. The journey stands as a testament to Assam Rifles’ sustained efforts in nurturing harmony, understanding, and national integration through meaningful civic engagement.
