Kolkata: The Eastern India Optometric Association (EIOA), in collaboration with Brainsight Neurovision Institute, successfully organised an advanced clinical workshop on neurovision therapy in Kolkata on Saturday. The event saw enthusiastic participation from a large number of practicing optometrists and optometry students from across the region.

The workshop placed strong emphasis on hands-on clinical training, with detailed analysis of workshop videos and real clinical data. Participants were trained using advanced diagnostic and therapeutic instruments, focusing primarily on the diagnosis and management of amblyopia (lazy eye) and strabismus. Live demonstrations and real case-based learning sessions formed the core of the programme.

Dr. Montu Ekn, Founder and Director of Brainsight Neurovision Institute, stated that amblyopia—traditionally believed to be treatable only during childhood—can now be effectively managed through neurovision therapy even in adult patients. He highlighted that recent advancements in neurovision science have significantly expanded treatment possibilities.

EIOA Secretary Madhumita Deb echoed this sentiment, noting that many adult amblyopic patients who were earlier considered untreatable are now able to regain visual function through advanced neurovision therapy. She stressed the importance of increasing awareness among clinicians regarding these evolving and evidence-based treatment modalities.

Addressing the gathering, EIOA Joint Secretary Debashis Saha emphasised that medical science is in a constant state of evolution. He underscored the need for healthcare professionals to keep pace with technological advancements in order to deliver optimal patient care, adding that such workshops play a crucial role in professional upskilling and continuous knowledge enhancement.

The workshop was further enriched by the presence of Dr. Arpan Khan, Founder of Netradeep Hospital, who highly appreciated the initiative. He remarked that neurovision therapy has the potential to usher in a new era in the treatment of lazy eye patients and significantly improve their quality of life.

At the conclusion of the programme, Brainsight Neurovision Institute presented saplings to all participating members, symbolising a commitment to environmental responsibility and sustainable development.

Overall, the workshop marked a significant step towards integrating advanced neurovision therapy into mainstream optometric practice and received wide appreciation from the professional community.
