Kolkata: Fortis Hospital, Anandapur has launched a six-month free cardiac screening campaign to mark World Heart Day 2025, echoing this year’s theme — “Don’t Miss a Beat.” The initiative underscores the urgent need for preventive action as sudden cardiac arrests increasingly impact young and seemingly healthy individuals.
The screening drive, active from 1st October 2025 to March 2026, will offer free heart check-ups across the community through camps organized at corporate offices, residential societies, and community clubs across the region.
Employees and residents from leading organizations and associations — including GAIL, ITC, L&T, Reliance, Accenture, M Junction, TCS, MSP Steel, IOCL, Burdwan Gramin Bank, Ozone, Kasba Young Star Club, Nakatala Nabapally, Sunney Season, Avidipta, and others — will have access to these cardiac screening camps. Each camp is expected to serve 70–80 individuals, potentially benefiting thousands over the campaign period.
At these camps, participants can:
- Undergo basic heart health screenings
- Consult with doctors about simple lifestyle changes
- Learn CPR through hands-on demonstrations
The objective is to empower individuals with the tools and knowledge needed to proactively manage their heart health.
The theme “Don’t Miss a Beat” resonates strongly in India, where nearly 50% of heart attack cases are now reported in individuals under 40 years of age. Fortis aims to encourage early detection, timely lifestyle modifications, and proactive cardiac care by conducting screenings in accessible, familiar environments like workplaces and housing complexes.
Speaking about the initiative, Ashish Mukherjee, Facility Director, Fortis Hospital Anandapur, said:
“The rise in sudden cardiac arrests among the younger population is deeply concerning. We believe awareness and early intervention are the keys to reversing this trend. Through this six-month campaign, our aim is to reach as many people as possible, educate them on risk factors, and encourage timely lifestyle modifications. This initiative reflects our commitment to extending care beyond hospital walls and working with communities to build healthier futures.”
