CRS Inspection Over Newly Commissioned 3rd Line Section Between RAMPURHAT and CHATRA

Kolkata : Suvomoy Mitra, Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS)/Eastern Circle inspected newly commissioned 3rd line between Rampurhat & Chatra on 6.09.2023.
Rampurhat & Chatra is a double line electrified section of Eastern Railway’s Howrah Division with Multi Aspect Colour Light Signalling (MACL) having a length of 22.64 Kms. This Railway line from Sahibganj Loop was extended up to Kiul via Rampurhat in the year of 1866.

Rampurhat is the principal gateway of all Northeast bounding trains. This section involves the operation of both Mail/Express, and primarily goods. Proposal for construction of 3rd line between Rampurhat and Chatra has been sanctioned at a cost of 218.03Crs.

This eagerly awaited commissioning of 3rd line between Rampurhat & Chatra stations over Howrah Division has completed ahead of schedule on September 06, 2023, will definitely bring more mobility at North-East & North-Bengal bound rail link with added capacity.

This achievement of speedy commissioning of 3rd line between Rampurhat & Chatra follows meticulous safety inspections and speed trials, overseen by Shri Suvomoy Mitra, Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS)/Eastern Circle.

As a part of the inspection today, Mitra, Commissioner of Railway Safety conducted motor trolley inspection in between Rampurhat and Chatra stations on the newly constructed lines wherein, bridges, Railway Track fittings, P-way assets, Electronic inter-locking, relay rooms, cabin, level crossing gates and stations were also inspected.

Suvomoy Mitra, Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS)/Eastern Circle also conducted the speed trail between Rampurhat and Chatra. P.K. Sharma, Chief Administrative Officer (Construction)/ Eastern Railway, Sanjeev Kumar, Divisional Railway Manager/ Howrah and other senior officers of Eastern Railway Headquarters and Howrah Division accompanied Mitra during this inspection.

Notably, the daunting challenge was admirably surmounted. The section features strategically positioned stations, including Rampurhat Jn, Swadinpuri, Nalhati and Chatra. Each of these underwent station yard modifications with blocks taken earlier with non-interlocked working in conjunction with the commissioning of the 3rd line. Additionally, the project encompassed pivotal tasks such as Interlocking, Signalling, and Overhead Equipment (OHE) Modification etc.
