Kolkata: The Swachhta Pakhwara programme started on 16th September and will continue upto 02nd October. On the fifth & sixth day of Swachhta Pakhwara, Swachh Railgaadi Diwas was observed throughout Eastern Railway through various programmes and activities.
The fifth & sixth day of the Swachhta Pakhwara, marked as ‘Swachh Railgaadi Diwas’ was designated for an intensive cleaning of trains, inspection of premium and listed trains at washing line/ station & feedback taken from passengers, cleanliness awareness campaign etc.
In Sealdah Division, cleanliness awareness campaign was conducted at various stations. Intensive cleaning of trains like Kolkata – Gwalior SF Express & Gurumukhi SF express and Premium trains like Sealdah – New Delhi Rajdhani express & Sealdah – Bikaner Duronto express also took place. An inspection of trains was also conducted at the washing line/ station including PMU/MEMU/DMU.
Within Howrah Division, efforts were focused on inspection of identified special train with on board housekeeping service at stations, feedback of passengers, cleanliness awareness campaign on use of bio-toilets. Intensive cleaning of identified special trains were also done.
In Asansol Division, an intensive inspection of cleaning of coaches in 22305/6 (JSME-SMVB Exp.), 12019 (HWH-RNC Shatabdi Exp.), 19607 (KOAA-MDJN Exp.) has been done under the program of ‘Swachh Railgaadi’. The cleanliness of passenger compartment area, toilets, pantry car & exteriors of coaches has been ensured.
In Malda Division, Swachh Railgaadi Diwas was also observed on the occasion of Swachhta Pakhwara.
