Kolkata : Sealdah Division is heading towards successful completion of the mammoth infrastructure upgradation and station extension project. With 12-15 lakhs footfall per day, Sealdah Division is the busiest suburban network in India. This complex modernization project is heading towards successful accomplishment by dint of peerless dedication and unflinching commitment of the officers, staff and 400 workers, toiling round the clock from 07th June midnight under inspiring leadership of Deepak Nigam DRM Sealdah.
Engineering, Oparating, Electrical and Signal & Telecom departments of Sealdah Division are putting in herculean efforts to meet the deadline. During yesterday night both the Engineering and Electrical department worked in tandem to complete the following work :-
- conversion of single slip diamond point & crossing to Double Slip diamond P&C to facilitate movement of trains at Platform no. 3, 4 & 5.
- Dismantling of Point and Crossing on line no. 2, 3, 4 & 5 and linking of track to increase the length of plaform no. 2, 3, 4 & 5.
- Renewal , changing and isolation of overhead electric wire for platform no. 1,2,3,4 & 5.
- Removal of all infringment to platform number 1 to 5.
From today (08.06.2024) morning, Signal & telecom department are doing the following complex and state of the art signalling work :-
1.All work of Newly inserted double slip diamond point & crossing have been completed & tested.
2.Physical signal correspondence testing of signalling route (449) of new trailblazing Electronic Interlocking System (Siemens Mk-II system) testing work is in progress & will be completed within NI time.
Deepak Nigam, DRM Sealdah is relentlessly supervising this marathon project and today he has checked the progress of on going work along with his divisional officers. As a part of the endeavour he took stock of points and crossing, relay room, panel room of Sealdah North cabin etc. He has also expressed his satisfaction over the progress of this huge and sophisticated infrastructure work despite the unbearably hot and humid climatic conditions.
