Kolkata: In a determined effort to combat the rising threat of counterfeit products deceiving consumers and to protect the esteemed brand value of FAG bearings, a significant brand under the Schaeffler group in India, a successful raid was conducted in Kolkata with police assistance. This action aims to curb the spread of counterfeit goods across the city.
The raid targeted two locations: Mahesh Bearing Stores and an unnamed office-cum-godown setup on BRB Basu Road and NS Road, respectively, with the collaboration of Burra Bazar police station officials.
Schaeffler holds a significant presence in India, and its high-quality FAG products are in great demand. Unfortunately, counterfeiters were found selling fake bearings to consumers in Kolkata and surrounding areas. Approximately 140 pieces of counterfeit bearings and around 200 outer box sheets were seized during the raid.
The raid team, consisting of law enforcement officials and representatives from FAG, successfully identified the counterfeit goods. A First Information Report (FIR) has been filed against the accused. The raid was conducted under the jurisdiction of the Burra Bazar police station to address this critical issue.
Customer complaints regarding questionable quality and the presence of counterfeit products have emerged in the region. This prompted the company to initiate investigations and conduct raids, such as the one in Kolkata, to protect consumers and uphold the integrity of the FAG brand.
