Eastern Railway fortified vigilance raids to restrain ticket touts

Kolkata: Eastern Railway’s Vigilance team in association with the RPF conducting raids at different booking counters to nab touts and ensure hassle free journey of the intending passengers, especially during Puja holidays for which demand for tickets have reached its peak.

Acting on a tip off from source information regarding prevalence of touts during opening hours of Puja booking, to impose check, Vigilance team & RPF of Eastern Railway raided passenger reservation conuters at Russa Road and Cornwalis Street today (27.6.2023).

Eastern Railway’s Vigilance Team arrested two persons from Russa Road passenger reservation counter and one from Cornwalis Street reservation counter for touting activities. The apprehended persons were handed over to RPF/Koilaghat for onward investigation and legal action. A couple of reserved tickets recovered from the apprehended persons and those were seized.

Eastern Railway will continue such vigilance raids to resist any touting activities so that no bonafide passenger have to face trouble during the journey by purchasing improper ticket from the touts.

Kausik Mitra, Chief Public Relations Officer, Eastern Railway requested the passengers to purchase proper journey ticket by themselves from the booking counters or through IRCTC website only and not to fall prey to the touts.
