Kolkata: On the occasion of World Heart Day on 29 Sep 24, a Mini-Marathon was organized by the NCC Cadets of West Bengal & Sikkim Directorate to enhance awareness on measures to prevent cardio-vascular diseases, promote healthy living among the youth and communities. The event saw enthusiastic participation of a large No of Cadets and volunteers from all sections of the society of Kolkata.
The mini-marathon was held in two categories for boys & girls. The girl cadets of NCC Senior & Junior Wing ran a distance of 5 kms, whereas the boy cadets of NCC Senior & Junior Division participated in a 10 km run.
The winners were felicitated and awarded with medals and prizes. In addition to the NCC cadets, army officers, their spouses and children also participated in the mini-marathon to encourage the cadets and also spread the message of “Run for a Healthy Heart”.
Sports ‘N’ Joy Athletic Physical Training Academy, Howrah, The Narayana Health, Shakti Foundation, Shining Earth Foundation and Kolkata Police collaborated with NCC for the successful conduct of the event.
The event called upon the participants to live an active life & shun unhealthy food to reduce the impact of cardio-vascular diseases, the leading cause of deaths worldwide.
