Birbhum, Raju Mal : A chilling murder has shaken Birbhum district’s Mohammad Bazaar area, leaving locals stunned. Sujay Mondal, a 40-year-old resident of Chandrapur village under Hinglo Panchayat, was shot dead near Sarenda village, close to a Kali temple.
Mondal was found with two bullet wounds in his chest, lying in a pool of blood around 4 am. Locals immediately informed the Mohammad Bazaar police station, who recovered the body.
Locals suspect that Mondal and his two friends were drinking alcohol together inside the car, and it was within the vehicle he was shot dead.
Police have arrested one of Mondal’s friends and are searching for the other. Authorities suspect financial transactions might be the motive behind the murder.
According to police sources, Mondal had previous runs -ins with the law, including a recent arrest for illegal arms possession.
