BSF Foils Gold Smuggling Bid at Nadia Border; Gold Worth ₹44.40 Lakh Seized

Nadia: In a major success against cross-border smuggling, vigilant troops of the Border Security Force (BSF) foiled a gold smuggling attempt along the India-Bangladesh border in Nadia district of West Bengal. Acting on specific intelligence, jawans from the Baijnathpur Border Outpost under the 11th Battalion, South Bengal Frontier, recovered 439.23 grams of gold valued at ₹44.40 lakh.

The gold, concealed in a black packet hidden in bushes just 50 metres from the international border, was discovered during an intensive search operation. The packet contained four gold pieces of varying sizes.

Officials confirmed that the seized gold has been handed over to the concerned department for further legal proceedings. While the smugglers involved remain unidentified, the BSF has launched a detailed investigation.

The Public Relations Officer of the South Bengal Frontier stated that the BSF remains committed to curbing illegal activities along the border, leveraging a robust intelligence network and the alertness of its troops. He also urged locals to report any suspicious activity related to gold smuggling via the BSF’s Seema Sathi helpline (14419) or WhatsApp (9903472227), assuring confidentiality and appropriate rewards for credible information.
