Eastern Command Hosts China Study Seminar 2025 in Kolkata

Kolkata : Reaffirming its commitment to staying ahead of fast-evolving regional threat matrices, Headquarters Eastern Command organised a day-long China Study Seminar at Vijay Durg, Kolkata, on Saturday. The annual seminar serves as a key platform in the Command’s sustained efforts to bolster India’s defence preparedness, particularly in the context of contemporary and emerging challenges along the Northern and Eastern frontiers.

The event brought together senior leaders from the Armed Forces, Central Armed Police Forces, defence experts, scholars, think tanks and domain specialists. Discussions centred on the shifting security dynamics in India’s Northeast and the expanding arc of collusive challenges posed by China, Pakistan and Bangladesh.

The seminar featured incisive presentations by noted experts including Ambassador Gautam Bambawale, Amb. Riva Ganguly Das, Amb. Dilip Sinha and Jayadeva Ranade. Speakers analysed the contours of current and emerging threat scenarios and underscored the imperative for India to maintain strategic vigilance, upgrade its capabilities and adapt to the rapidly shifting geopolitical landscape.

Participants engaged in detailed deliberations, exchanged best practices, and evaluated effective strategies to address hybrid, conventional and grey-zone challenges shaping the regional security environment.

In his closing remarks, Lt Gen Ram Chander Tiwari, PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, SM, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Command, emphasised the need to continuously sharpen India’s strategic readiness. He reiterated Eastern Command’s operational preparedness and its unwavering commitment to counter emerging security challenges across the full spectrum of warfare.
