Eastern India Optometric Association Hosts Successful Eastern Regional Optometry Conference 2025 in Kolkata

Kolkata :The Eastern India Optometric Association (EIOA) successfully concluded the Eastern Regional Optometry Conference 2025, held on 8–9 November at the Medical College Academy Building, Kolkata. The two-day event, themed “The Best Vision for an Improved Life,” brought together leading optical health professionals, educators, and students from across Eastern and North-Eastern India to celebrate excellence, exchange knowledge, and strengthen the spirit of optometric service.

The conference was formally inaugurated by Swami Nityakamananda Maharaj, Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission Seva Pratishthan, with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp. The inaugural session was attended by several distinguished guests, including:

  • Dr. Anil K. Tyagi, President, Delhi Optometrist Association
  • Dr. Prem Kumar Singh, Dr. Shroff’s Charity Eye Hospital, Delhi
  • Yogita L. Rajgandhi, President, VOSH International (India Chapter)
  • Dr. Pankaj Rupaliah, Medical Director, Rotary Techno Netralaya
  • Dr. Jayanta Bhattacharya, Director, Kalyani Eye Care
  • Dr. Abhijit Ghosh, Ex-Reader, RIO

EIOA, registered under the Government of West Bengal and NITI Aayog, has been actively contributing to the advancement of optometry education and public eye care. Throughout 2025, the association conducted free eye camps, awareness drives, and skill-enhancement workshops, benefiting thousands from economically weaker sections while providing advanced clinical exposure to optometry students. These initiatives were led by Senior Optometrist Madhumita Deb, General Secretary of EIOA.

Speaking at the inauguration, Swami Nityakamananda Maharaj said, “Serving sight is serving humanity. The work of EIOA reflects true compassion and dedication to society.”
Guest of Honour Dr. Anil K. Tyagi praised the association’s efforts, noting that “EIOA’s community service and professional drive are truly commendable. The future of optometry lies in unity and skilled practice.”
Yogita L. Rajgandhi added that “Technology and collaboration are shaping the future of eye care. EIOA’s initiatives inspire professionals across India.”

In his presidential address, the EIOA President highlighted Bengal’s proud 100-year legacy in optometry and urged practitioners to remain united in strengthening specialization and upholding the mission, “The Best Vision for an Improved Life.”

The Eastern Regional Optometry Conference 2025 concluded on an inspiring note, reaffirming EIOA’s commitment to education, ethics, and public service — empowering optometrists to work towards a brighter, clearer future for all.
