Kolkata : Eastern Railway’s Sealdah Division today successfully launched the inaugural run of a new EMU local service between Amghata Halt and Krishnanagar City Junction, marking a major step towards strengthening suburban railway connectivity in the region.
The inaugural run was flagged off in the august presence of Member of Parliament Jagannath Sarkar. Rajesh Kumar, Additional Divisional Railway Manager (Infra), Sealdah, along with other senior officials and enthusiastic local residents, also graced the occasion.
The special EMU departed from Amghata Halt at 12:00 hrs, symbolizing the start of a much-awaited service for daily commuters.
This run serves as a precursor to the introduction of three pairs of new EMU services between Krishnanagar City Jn. and Amghata Halt, which will come into regular operation from November 17, 2025.
Addressing the gathering, Hon’ble MP Shri Jagannath Sarkar described the launch as a “true milestone”, fulfilling long-standing public demands. He expressed confidence that the new services would significantly ease daily travel for thousands by offering faster and more convenient mobility.
