Kolkata: In a continued effort to ensure disciplined travel and enhance passenger convenience, the Sealdah Division of Eastern Railway conducted a special ticket checking drive on the Sealdah–Barasat section. The initiative aimed at promoting awareness about proper ticketing practices and ensuring a smooth, safe and comfortable journey for commuters. The drive was led by Jasram Meena, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Sealdah.
During the course of the drive, 282 passengers were detected travelling without valid tickets or with irregular travel documents. In addition, 94 cases of unbooked luggage and 33 cases of spitting were identified. In total, 409 cases were registered, leading to the realisation of fines amounting to ₹1,05,590.
Beyond enforcement, the primary objective of the special drive was to sensitise passengers about the importance of purchasing valid tickets and adhering to railway rules and regulations, which play a crucial role in ensuring safety, cleanliness and overall travel comfort.
The Sealdah Division of Eastern Railway has once again urged all passengers to travel with proper tickets, comply with railway norms and cooperate with railway authorities in maintaining a disciplined, clean and passenger-friendly travel environment.
