Kolkata : The Association of Chest Physicians, West Bengal (ACP-WB), is set to host the 29th ACPCON 2026, its annual flagship academic conference, on 7th and 8th February 2026 at Swabhumi Rangdurbar, Kolkata. The conference is expected to bring together around 350 doctors from West Bengal and other states, including eminent pulmonologists, critical care specialists, researchers and healthcare professionals from across the country.
With rising levels of air pollution and tobacco use, respiratory diseases—particularly Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) and other chronic lung conditions—have increased significantly in recent years. Studies indicate that nearly 8.36% of Indian males above the age of 40 are affected by COPD. Alarmingly, the incidence of respiratory illnesses is also rising among non-smokers, highlighting the growing public health challenge.
ACPCON 2026 aims to provide a comprehensive platform for knowledge exchange, skill enhancement, and discussion on emerging trends in respiratory and critical care medicine.
A major highlight of the conference will be the pre-conference workshops on Mechanical Ventilation and Artificial Intelligence in Respiratory Medicine, designed to equip participants with hands-on training and insights into cutting-edge technologies shaping modern healthcare.
The scientific programme will cover a wide range of contemporary and clinically relevant topics, including:
- Preventive Respiratory Medicine
- Advancements in Life Support Systems
- Respiratory Intensive Care
- Respiratory Infections and Tuberculosis (TB)
- Tuberculosis-Associated Chronic Pulmonary Disease (TOPD)
- Minimally Invasive Interventions in Pulmonology
- Importance of New Pneumonia Vaccines
Renowned national faculty members will lead interactive lectures, panel discussions and case-based learning sessions, ensuring high academic value for delegates.
Speaking about the event, the organizers stated that ACPCON 2026 aims to strengthen professional collaboration, promote evidence-based clinical practice and encourage innovation in respiratory care, particularly in the context of evolving healthcare challenges.
The conference will witness the gracious presence of distinguished faculty members including Dr. Parthasarathi Bhattacharya, Dr. Sushmita Roychoudhury, Dr. Khushboo Pilania, Dr. Nishant Chauhan, Dr. Vishveshwaran Balasubramaniam, along with several other eminent physicians, making it one of the most significant academic gatherings in eastern India in the field of pulmonology.
Representing the organizing committee, Dr. A. G. Ghoshal, President, ACP-WB; Dr. Joydeep Deb, Secretary, ACP-WB; Dr. Indranil Halder, Organizing Secretary, ACPCON 2026; Dr. Anshuman Mukhopadhyay; and Dr. Sudip Ghosh will address the media. On the occasion, a book titled “Pulmo-Talk”, featuring expert deliberations and lectures by participating doctors, will also be released.
With its blend of scientific excellence, practical training, and technological focus, the 29th ACPCON 2026 promises to be a landmark event in advancing respiratory medicine and improving patient care.
