eBikeGo Bets Big on India’s Green Mobility Push, to Open 50 Stores in 12 Months

Business Kolkata

Kolkata: EBG Group company eBikeGo has announced plans to establish 50 integrated bicycle and e-bike stores across India over the next 12 months, marking its entry into the country’s organised bicycle mobility retail and service sector.

The new store network will bring bicycle and e-bike sales, rentals, servicing, spare parts and fleet mobility solutions under one roof, with the aim of making cycling-based mobility more accessible for everyday urban transportation.

The rollout will begin with pilot stores in Coimbatore, Hyderabad and Bengaluru, before expanding to other markets through a metro-first and cluster-based strategy.

The company plans to invest more than ₹35 crore in developing the 50-store network. At full scale, the initiative is expected to generate around 300 direct jobs and 500–700 indirect employment opportunities. eBikeGo also projects more than 5 lakh annual customer interactions and over 1 lakh mobility transactions across sales, rentals and servicing.

Focus on Everyday Urban Mobility

The expansion comes at a time when bicycles and electric bicycles are increasingly being used beyond fitness and leisure. Short-distance commuting, student mobility, last-mile transportation and gig work are emerging as key areas where affordable and low-cost mobility solutions can play an important role.

According to eBikeGo, its integrated store model is designed to address these requirements by combining product sales with rental services, servicing and after-sales support at neighbourhood-level outlets.

Dr. Irfan Khan, Founder & Chairman, EBG Group, said that the perception of electric bicycles in India is changing rapidly.

“The perception of an electric bicycle in India is changing. It is no longer being viewed only as a fitness or leisure product. For an office commuter, student or gig worker, the conversation is increasingly about cost per kilometre, convenience, reliability and access to service. This is where an organised retail and service ecosystem becomes important. Our objective with eBikeGo Stores is to make electric and conventional bicycles more accessible while addressing the ownership experience beyond the point of sale,” he said.

Stores to Function as Mobility Hubs

The first 15 founding stores will form the initial footprint of the network. These outlets will also help the company test and refine its operating model, improve product availability and strengthen its after-sales capabilities before entering additional markets.

Unlike conventional bicycle dealerships, eBikeGo Stores are being positioned as neighbourhood mobility hubs, offering retail, rental, servicing and fleet support under one roof.

The stores will cater to a wide customer base, including children, students, working professionals, fitness enthusiasts, families, gig workers, delivery partners, businesses and institutional customers.

The physical store network will also be integrated with store.ebikego.com, creating a common technology platform for transactions and customer support.

Expanding E-Bike Product Portfolio

At the centre of the offering is eBikeGo’s range of 250W electric-assist bicycles, designed for urban commuting, foldable mobility, gig-work applications and recreational riding.

The company’s planned product range includes eBikeGo City, eBikeGo Flare, eBikeGo Flare Pro, eBikeGo Fold, eBikeGo Momentum and eBikeGo Horizon.

Depending on the model and riding mode, the bicycles offer assisted speeds of up to 25 kmph and an estimated range of 35–55 km. Features across the range include removable batteries, Shimano gearing on select models and foldable designs.

Long-Term Target of 1,500+ Stores

The company has set its sights beyond the initial 50-store rollout. Its long-term vision is to establish a national network of more than 1,500 mobility stores through a capital-efficient, partner-led expansion strategy.

Through the planned network, eBikeGo aims to strengthen access to bicycles and electric bicycles while positioning them as a practical and affordable option for everyday urban transportation in India.
