Kolkata: Jewellery brand CaratLane has opened a new flagship store in Gariahat, one of Kolkata’s major commercial hubs, as part of its plan to expand its retail presence across Eastern India.
Spread across three floors, the new store has been designed with elements inspired by Kolkata’s local culture and aesthetic. The outlet will offer CaratLane’s jewellery collections across everyday wear, gifting and special occasions, along with the brand’s omnichannel shopping experience.
The store was inaugurated through a traditional coal-breaking ceremony, marking the formal beginning of operations at the new outlet.
CaratLane currently operates more than 388 stores across India, including 69 outlets in the Eastern region. The Gariahat outlet is among the brand’s flagship stores in the country.
CaratLane plans to increase Bengal store network
In West Bengal, CaratLane currently has 31 stores across 11 cities. The company plans to increase this number to 35 as part of its expansion strategy for the state.
Speaking about the Kolkata expansion, CaratLane Managing Director Saumen Bhaumik said the city remains an important market for the brand because of its strong cultural connect and growing demand for contemporary jewellery.
The company has recently introduced two collections, Kaashika and Polki, promoted by its brand ambassador Yami Gautam Dhar. It has also partnered with actor Ashlesha Thakur as part of its efforts to connect with younger consumers. The brand has additionally expanded its offerings with Shaya Diamonds and a contemporary everyday 9kt gold jewellery collection.
42% growth recorded in Q1 FY27
CaratLane reported 42% growth in Q1 FY27, while its buyer base increased by 28%, according to the company.
Building on this growth, the jewellery brand plans to open five to seven new stores across Eastern India in the coming months.
At the national level, CaratLane is targeting 40–50 new store additions during FY27. The expansion will focus on strengthening its retail network, expanding its product portfolio and improving its omnichannel capabilities.
The launch of the Gariahat flagship store comes as part of CaratLane’s wider expansion across high-potential markets, with Kolkata continuing to be an important market for the brand in Eastern India.
