435 HP EC650 launched at bauma CONEXPO INDIA 2026 as Volvo CE expands its mining, construction and electric equipment portfolio

Noida: Volvo Construction Equipment India has made a major push into India’s heavy mining equipment market with the commercial launch of its EC650, a 65-tonne class excavator, at bauma CONEXPO INDIA 2026.

The new excavator has been positioned for demanding mining and mass excavation operations and is powered by Volvo’s D13E engine, delivering 435 HP. The machine combines a heavy-duty undercarriage, reinforced boom and arm and advanced hydraulic systems aimed at delivering durability, productivity and fuel efficiency in tough operating conditions.

Volvo CE said the EC650 is available for immediate deliveries as the mining sector enters its buying season. The machine will also be offered through the company’s Equipment-as-a-Service model, giving customers an alternative to conventional equipment ownership.

Beyond supplying the machine, Volvo CE is focusing on services aimed at improving equipment uptime and overall site productivity. These include connected services, productivity solutions, repair and maintenance agreements and application-specific support.

Wide Equipment Line-Up on Display

Volvo CE has showcased one of its widest equipment portfolios at bauma CONEXPO INDIA 2026, covering construction, compactors, mining and electric equipment.

In the Construction & Industrial zone, the company has highlighted its 20-tonne excavator range, comprising the EC210, EC215 and EC220. These machines are designed for applications including road construction, urban infrastructure development, quarrying and river-bed mining.

The display also includes the EC300 excavator, SD110 soil compactor, DD90 double-drum compactor and L120 Electric Wheel Loader, reflecting Volvo CE’s focus on both conventional and lower-emission equipment solutions.

The Mining zone puts the spotlight on the EC480, EC650 and L150, with Volvo CE presenting the machines around specific mining applications rather than simply showcasing individual products.

Focus on Connected and Customer-Centric Solutions

With the EC650 launch, Volvo CE is looking beyond equipment sales and placing greater emphasis on technology, connectivity and lifecycle support.

The company aims to help mining and construction customers improve machine utilisation, reduce downtime and increase operational efficiency through connected technologies and application-led solutions.

The EC650’s availability through Equipment-as-a-Service is also part of this approach, providing customers with greater flexibility in accessing advanced equipment without relying solely on traditional ownership models.

‘Aaj Banayein Kal’ Campaign Highlights India’s Infrastructure Story

Volvo CE’s presence at the exhibition also ties into its latest campaign, ‘Aaj Banayein Kal’ — Let’s Build Tomorrow, Today.

The campaign focuses on India’s infrastructure development and the people behind it, including contractors, equipment operators and customers who are involved in building roads, cities and other critical infrastructure.

Through the campaign, Volvo CE is calling on India’s builders to continue investing in infrastructure that can support the country’s next generation and contribute to the broader vision of a Viksit Bharat.

Volvo CE Stresses Reliability and Fuel Efficiency

Speaking at the event, Dimitrov Krishnan, Managing Director, Volvo Construction Equipment India, said the scale and intensity of India’s mining operations are creating demand for machines that can deliver reliability while maintaining fuel efficiency and operator responsiveness.

He said the EC650 is intended to serve as a dependable machine for mining operators working across demanding conditions, while supporting India’s broader infrastructure and economic growth.

Volvo CE has also reiterated its long-term commitment to India. The company had earlier announced investment in its Technology Centre in Bengaluru, which is expected to support research and development, localisation and product innovation for both the Indian and global markets.

With the EC650 launch and its broader equipment showcase at bauma CONEXPO INDIA 2026, Volvo CE is strengthening its presence across India’s mining and construction equipment sectors while placing greater emphasis on productivity, connectivity, lifecycle support and future-ready infrastructure solutions.
