Kolkata and Durgapur pandal hoppers can access refreshments and complimentary, contactless health assessments from October 16 to 20

Kolkata : Amid the festive rush of Durga Puja, Star Health and Allied Insurance Company Limited has introduced ‘Bishram Grih’, a rest-and-refresh lounge initiative at three selected Durga Puja pandals in Kolkata and Durgapur. The initiative aims to provide pandal hoppers with a comfortable space to take a break, enjoy refreshments and access technology-enabled health assessments during the celebrations.

The facilities will operate from October 16 to 20, starting at 11 AM, at Bagbazar Sarbojanin Durgotsav Exhibition and 22 Palli Sarodotsab at Northern Park in Kolkata, along with Marconi Dakshina Pally in Durgapur.

Designed around the concept of “Rest, Relax & Rejuvenate”, the Bishram Grih lounges will offer visitors seating arrangements, tea and drinking water, allowing them to recharge before continuing their pandal-hopping trips. The initiative is particularly relevant for those spending long hours visiting multiple pandals during the festival.

Face Scan Health Assessment at Pandals

A key feature of the initiative is a Face Scan health assessment kiosk that provides visitors with a quick, contactless and indicative report covering approximately 17 health parameters. These include heart rate, respiratory rate, stress index and heart rate variability (HRV)-related metrics, offering insights into selected physiological indicators.

According to the company, the technology-led facility is intended to encourage preventive health awareness by making basic health-related information accessible to visitors in a festive setting.

Commenting on the initiative, Himanshu Walia, Whole-time Director and Chief Marketing Officer of Star Health Insurance, said Durga Puja involves extensive pandal hopping, with many people spending long hours exploring different locations. He said Bishram Grih was designed to provide visitors with a comfortable place to pause and recharge, while the Face Scan facility would encourage greater awareness of selected health indicators.

Atin Roy, Business Head – West Bengal, Star Health Insurance, said the initiative addresses the practical needs of people visiting pandals across the region. He added that the company aims to integrate comfort and health awareness into the festive experience through the lounge facilities and complimentary health assessments.

Health and Safety During Pandal Hopping

Alongside the initiative, Star Health has urged pandal hoppers, particularly senior citizens and families with young children, to take precautions during the festivities. The company has advised visitors to stay hydrated, take regular breaks between visits, wear comfortable footwear and seek medical advice if they experience any discomfort.

By combining rest facilities with technology-enabled health assessments, Star Health’s Bishram Grih initiative seeks to bring preventive health awareness into the Durga Puja celebrations in Kolkata and Durgapur.
