Sealdah Division Adds 5 New EMU Locals on Sealdah–Dum Dum Cantt. Route to Ease Congestion

Kolkata : Suburban EMU services of Sealdah Division plays a pivotal role in providing seamless connectivity in between Kolkata and adjoining districts. On an average, 900 odd EMU services are plying across the Division to facilitate lakhs of commuters.

To cater to the extra rush of passengers and in order to provide more space and convenience for suburban passengers, Sealdah Division has recently decided to run additional EMU special services in Ballygunge – Namkhana, Ballygunge – Canning and Ballygunge – Sonarpur sections for reducing over-crowding and consequential risk of accidents in Sealdah South Section.

Safety, security and convenience of passengers are accorded highest priority by Rajeev Saxena, DRM Sealdah. In view of recent developments, introduction of more EMU locals during peak hours was under active consideration for the sake of enhanced passenger safety and security of commuters. Sealdah division is pleased to announce introduction of 05 new EMU locals in Dumdum Cantt.- Bongaon Section (both in morning and evening peak hours) on trial basis for providing better travel experience and safe transportation.

1. One Bongaon- Dumdum Cantt. EMU special will leave Bongaon at 7:41 hrs to reach Dumdum Cantt. at 09:16 hrs.
2. One Dumdum Cantt. – Barasat EMU special will leave Dumdum Cantt. at 9:45 hrs to reach Barasat at 10:15 hrs.
3. One Barasat – Dumdum Cantt. EMU special will leave Barasat at 17:37 hrs to reach Dumdum Cantt at 18:00 hrs.
4. One Dumdum Cantt. – Bongaon EMU special will leave Dumdum Cantt. at 18:26 hrs to reach Bongaon at 20:10 hrs.
5. One Bongaon – Barasat EMU special will leave Bongaon at 20:20 hrs to reach Barasat at 21:25 hrs.

It’s not out of place to mentioned here that, there is huge rush of Sector-V and New Town bound passengers at Sealdah, Bidhannagar & Dumdum Junction. Introduction of new EMU special trains in Dumdum Cantonment – Bongaon section will certainly decongest heavily crowded Bidhannagar and Dumdum Jn. Stations. After establishment of Metro Link in between New Town and Dumdum Cantt., Dumdum Cantt. will emerged as new transportation hub for the City of Joy. Daily passengers coming from Bongaon, Barasat will find it much more convenient to access seamless communication from Dumdum Cantonment to the heart of the city.
