Kolkata : In a significant public safety initiative, Fortis Healthcare organised a nationwide helmet safety drive to promote responsible two-wheeler riding and reduce preventable road accident injuries. As part of this campaign, Fortis Hospital Anandapur, in collaboration with the Kasba Traffic Guard, conducted an on-ground awareness activity at high-footfall traffic intersections near the hospital.
During the drive, the hospital team distributed around 100 branded helmets and First Aid booklets to riders who were found travelling without helmets. A specially designed kiosk was set up to ensure smooth engagement with commuters. The activity was inaugurated by Amoresh Bose, OC, Kasba Traffic Guard.
Adding a creative element to draw public attention, a volunteer dressed as Yamraj interacted with riders, highlighting the life-saving importance of wearing helmets. The symbolic representation sparked meaningful conversations and served as a memorable reminder of the consequences of not following road safety norms.
The initiative is a key extension of the ongoing ‘Fortis Hai Na’ campaign, which focuses on preparedness, timely response, and community care. Through this activity, Fortis aims to enhance awareness about emergency prevention and strengthen its positioning as a trusted healthcare partner beyond hospital premises.
Speaking about the campaign, Dr. Ritu Garg, Chief Growth & Innovation Officer, Fortis Healthcare, said:
“Our primary objective is to raise awareness about the critical role helmet usage plays in saving lives. A simple precaution can prevent life-changing injuries. With this campaign, we want to reiterate the urgent need for responsible riding and reinforce our commitment to public safety and proactive healthcare engagement.”
Ashish Mukherjee, Facility Director, Fortis Hospital Anandapur, added:
“We often witness the devastating impact of head injuries caused by two-wheeler accidents—many of which are entirely preventable. This initiative goes beyond distributing helmets; it is about building a culture of responsibility on our roads. Our commitment extends beyond hospital walls, and we want to keep our communities safe before they ever need critical care.”
Through this large-scale safety campaign, Fortis Healthcare reaffirms its dedication to community wellbeing, emergency preparedness, and reducing avoidable accidents—taking healthcare advocacy directly to the streets where it matters most.
