Kolkata : Sealdah Division of Eastern Railway is relentlessly achieving major milestones in both the fields of operational efficiency and passengers’ convenience. Inspired by the mantra “Hungry For Cargo”, Division is making sustained efforts to witness a remarkable surge in freight movement. During the Financial year 2023-24, Sealdah Division has managed to increase substantial 22.04% increase in jute loading and massive 38.19% increase in fertilizer loading. This remarkable achievement underscores Sealdah Division’s commitment in business development with environment friendly agile policy.
Apart, the division has accomplished commissioning of newly constructed line between Murshidabad and Azimganj stations, thereby facilitating seamless goods movement and passenger traffic in between Sealdah and Howrah Divisions. This development streamlines connectivity and enhances travel experiences for passengers.
Sealdah Division remains dedicated to passenger comfort as well. During last FY, Sealdah Division has introduced six new Electric Multiple Unit (EMU) trains, significantly augmenting suburban service strength. Additionally a new Mail train 13189/13190 Sealdah-Balurghat Express commenced journey on 2nd January 2024, offering another convenient and reliable travel option for esteemed commuters.
