EASTERN COMMAND CELEBRATES INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY AT FORT WILLIAM, KOLKATA, AND VARIOUS MILITARY STATIONS

Kolkata: The Eastern Command solemnly commemorated International Yoga Day 2024 at Fort William, Kolkata, and across numerous military stations. This event underscored yoga’s crucial role in enhancing the physical and mental well-being of military personnel, their families, and the broader society.

At Fort William, Ashima Srikanth, Regional Vice President of the Army Wives Welfare Association (AWWA), led a distinguished yoga session. Approximately 1,100 participants, including all ranks and their families, engaged with earnestness. As the sun rose, a profound serenity enveloped the environment, marked by the synchronized dedication of the participants through various ‘Asanas’.

Parallel mass yoga sessions at multiple Eastern Command stations further embodied the essence of “Yoga For Self and Society”, affirming the armed forces’ steadfast commitment to holistic health and communal unity. The harmonious movements during the sessions exemplified deep mindfulness and a unified purpose, highlighting yoga’s significant role in promoting personal well-being and societal harmony.
