Kolkata: World ORS week is observed each year during last week of July to emphasize upon the importance of Oral Rehydration Solution (ORS) as a method to treat dehydration and diarrhoea. ORS is a glucose based salt solution that is used to prevent and treat dehydration.
The theme for celebration of ORS week 2024 is “Diarrhoea ki Roktham, Safai aur ORS se rakhen apna dhyan”.
Department of Pediatric/B.R.Singh Hospital & Health and Family Welfare Deptt. of Sealdah Division, in collaboration with West Bengal Academy of Pediatrics (WBAP), celebrated ORS awareness week on 25.07.2024 at B.R.Singh Hospital.
As a part of that awareness drive, different aspects like awareness generation videos were played on the video wall in Bengali, Hindi & English. Different aspects of Diarrohea prevention, management, Dos & Don’t’s, ORS use, Correction of dehydration and home based ORS preparations were discussed at length by the doctors present.
The session was indeed enriching for all the participants. The Programme was a grand success with spontaneous participation of Railway employees, Medical beneficiaries and Railway passengers. More than 300 ORS packets were also distributed amongst the spectators to mark the occasion.
