Kolkata6: Guru Nanak Institute of Technology (GNIT) organised its Degree Award Distribution Ceremony 2026 at its Kolkata campus on Saturday, honouring students from the graduating batches of 2023, 2024 and 2025.
The ceremony brought together graduating students, their families, faculty members and senior representatives of the JIS Group. Degrees were formally awarded to students marking the completion of their academic programmes and their transition towards higher studies and professional careers.
Among those present at the ceremony were Prof. Tapas Chakraborty, Vice Chancellor, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology (MAKAUT), West Bengal; Dr Neeraj Saxena, Chairman and Pro-Chancellor, JIS University; Sardar Simarpreet Singh, Director, JIS Group; Prof. (Dr) Ram Krishna Sen, Faculty of Bio Science and Bio Technology, IIT Kharagpur; Prof. (Dr) Krishnendu Chakraborty, Principal, Government College of Engineering & Ceramic Technology; and Prof. (Dr) Swarup Kumar Mitra, Principal, GNIT.
The event focused on the academic journey of the graduating students and marked their formal exit from campus life. Faculty members and institutional representatives also acknowledged the contribution of students, teachers and families in reaching the milestone.
Addressing the gathering, Sardar Taranjit Singh, Managing Director, JIS Group, said that receiving a degree should be viewed as the beginning of a longer professional journey. He encouraged the graduating students to continue developing their skills, take on new challenges and remain socially responsible as they move into their careers.
For the graduates, the ceremony marked the completion of years of study at GNIT and the beginning of their next phase, whether in employment, higher education or other professional pursuits.
