Kolkata: Unauthorized occupation remains a severe constraint for ensuring safety in Railway operations in the Suburban sections of Sealdah Division. It poses potential threat for safe movement of trains and passengers due to unauthorized occupants. Numerous unauthorized shops and slums within the Railway or platform premises make it hazardous for both commuters and train operations.
It has been observed that, Railway track leading to Titagarh Wagon Limited is dangerously occupied by local people through setting shops, market right on the track causing severe damage to track and track fittings, thereby rendering the track unfit for movement. Being unsafe for movement of traffic, the operation on the line has already been suspended after critically scrutinizing the condition of Railway track and track fittings in order to avoid possible derailment.
Sealdah Division is relentlessly making efforts to ensure that every passenger reaches their destination safely. However, the presence of unauthorized structures on railway track and within station premises pose a massive threat to passenger safety.
DRM SDAH Deepak Nigam has already instructed concerned officials and security personnel to take stern action to vacate the encroached railway track in the yard leading to Titagarh Wagon Limited and restore traffic on emergency basis. Sealdah Division once again appeals to such encroachers to keep the space free for the commuters, restrain from occupying Rail line and platform premises unauthorisedly.
