Kolkata: The safety and well being of women at Hospitals and working places are now top priority for Sealdah Division. Recent incidents have highlighted the urgent need for increased vigilance and collective efforts to prevent harrassment and violence against women. Eastern Railway’s Sealdah Division is hell bent upon ensuring total security for women at Hospitals and Railway premises.
In an endeavour to ensure safety of women and to eradicate any security lapses whatsoever, a high level meeting was convened by Deepak Nigam, DRM SDAH at B.R.Singh Hospital in presence of Branch Officers, Medical Director BRSH and other doctors. Safety and security arrangement at B.R.Singh Hospital and other Health Centres under Sealdah Division were assessed thoroughly.
It has been decided to take following steps to ensure 360° safety and security for women doctors, nurses, paramedical employees and other staff :-
- Wide CCTV COVERAGE of every corner of the hospital.
- Installation of adequate lighting.
- Deployment of additional security personnel for providing sense of security of women.
- Compulsory Identity card for everyone including doctors, staffs and paramedics.
- Using unique QR coding system for opening and closing of the doors at hospital.
- Installation of panic buttons particularly at sensitive places.
- Introduction of following dedicated helpline numbers – 0332383 3831, 0332352 5351.
DRM SDAH has instructed all concerned for immediate implementation of all the aforementioned measures for restoration of sense of security amongst women. He urges security personnels to remain absolute vigilant and administration on toes in ensuring safety and security at hospitals and health centres. Women safety is a collective responsibility and we must strive together in creating secured environment for all.
