BSF foils drug smuggling attempt and seizes 1,655 bottles of Phensedyl at Indo-Bangladesh border

Kolkata : Border Security Force personnel under South Bengal Frontier seized 1,655 bottles of Phensedyl from different border areas during a search operation along the international border. The total value of the seized goods is approximately Rs 3,39,275/-.

According to the information, acting on the information of the intelligence department about smuggling activities in the border area of Border Outpost, Dobarpara 05 Battalion, the jawans laid a well-organized ambush in their area. At around 1900 hrs, they observed suspicious activity of 03-04 smugglers moving towards the border line. On being challenged by BSF jawans, the smugglers fled towards the Indian border taking advantage of darkness and submerged fields. During a thorough search of the area, the jawans recovered 07 plastic bags containing 1,525 bottles of Phensedyl.

In other incidents on the same day, the jawans of 84th Battalion Border Outpost Natna, 73rd Battalion Border Outpost Harudga seized 130 bottles of Phensedyl from their respective border areas.

The seized items have been handed over to the concerned agencies for further legal action.

The Public Relations Officer, South Bengal Frontier, BSF said that the Border Security Force jawans are taking strict measures to prevent smuggling along the Indo-Bangladesh border. He said in strong words that BSF is fully committed to prevent smuggling from its area of responsibility.
