Down the memory lane, Calcutta and South Eastern Railway Company was established in 1859. Their 29 KM Rail link from Beliagutta (today’s Beliaghata) and Port Canning became operational in two phases : Beliagutta – Champahati on 02.01.1862 and Champahati – Port Canning on 15.05.1883.
