Birbhum : A disturbing incident of alleged medical negligence has surfaced at Rampurhat Government Medical College Hospital in Birbhum district, West Bengal. Afsana Khatun, a resident of Murarai, gave birth to a child on Thursday at Murarai Rural Hospital. However, due to her deteriorating health, she was transferred to Rampurhat Medical College Hospital.
According to Afsana’s family, despite admitting her, the hospital staff neglected her newborn’s treatment. The family alleged that the child’s condition worsened due to lack of medical attention. Despite repeated requests to the nurses, no treatment was provided.
The family has filed a written complaint with the hospital’s Medical Superintendent Cum Vice Principal, demanding an investigation and action against the responsible medical staff. This incident is not the first of its kind at Rampurhat Medical College Hospital, with multiple similar allegations surfacing in the past.
