RAIL POLICE RESCUE 10 MINOR CHILDREN FROM HUMAN TRAFFICKING RACKET

Birbhum, Raju Mal: In a daring operation, the Rail Police, in collaboration with the Bachpan Bachao Committee, rescued 10 minor children from human traffickers on board the 15228 Down Yeshwantpur Express train.

According to sources, the Rail Police received a tip-off about the suspicious activity and launched a search operation from Pakur. The rescue team, comprising Rail Police personnel and Bachpan Bachao Committee members, found the children hiding in Coach Number S-1.

Upon interrogation, the children revealed they were being taken to Bengaluru for forced labor. The traffickers, identified as Mohammad Abdullah and Sanjay Kumar, were arrested and produced in Rampurhat Court.

The court remanded the accused to seven days’ police custody. The rescued children, hailing from Malda and Bihar have been handed over to the Child Welfare Committee (CWC).

“We received information about the trafficking racket and swung into action,” said SI Santosh Kumar, who filed an FIR at Sainthia Police Station.

Advocate Wahidur Zaman, representing the Rail Police, briefed the media about the operation.

This successful rescue operation highlights the Rail Police’s commitment to combating human trafficking.
