• Eastern Railway team stood Runners up
• AGM ER and the Chief Guest of the occasion distributed prizes to the winners of the championship
Kolkata: The 68th All India Railway Volleyball Championship (Men), hosted by Eastern Railway Sports Association (ERSA), concluded at the Eastern Railway Sports Academy Complex, Majerhat, Kolkata. The closing ceremony was graced by Sumit Sarkar, Additional General Manager, Eastern Railway and the Chief Guest of the occasion. After the final match, Sumit Sarkar, Additional General Manager distributed trophies and medals to the Champion team.
Deepak Nigam, Divisional Railway Manager Sealdah and the Special Guest distributed trophy and medals to the runners up team. Satyaki Nath, Chief Administrative Officer (Systems) and the President of Eastern Railway Sports association distributed trophy and medal to the second runner up team and other outstanding performers.
South Western Railway emerged as the Champion of the 68th All India Railway Volleyball Championship (Men) 2024, while Eastern Railway secured the Runner-Up position. South Central Railway claimed the 2nd Runner-Up position.
The championship witnessed participation from 20 teams representing various railway zones, production units, and RPF. A total of 292 participants competed in the event, with teams divided into four groups of five each. The matches followed a league-cum-knockout format, progressing from league matches to the quarter-finals, semi-finals, and the grand final.
Sumit Sarkar, Additional General Manager, Eastern Railway, extended his congratulations both the champion and runners-up teams and applauded the efforts of the Eastern Railway Sports Association for organizing this prestigious national-level event.
Addressing the audience, Satyaki Nath, Chief Administrative Officer (System) & President of ERSA, remarked that this championship is a testament to the talent, teamwork, and sportsmanship of the railway fraternity. He emphasized that such events not only showcase athletic prowess but also foster camaraderie, exchange of ideas, and a collective effort to elevate the standards of volleyball within Indian Railways.
Sk Sharif of Eastern Railway was declared the “Best Player of the Tournament” for his exceptional performance.
