Kolkata: Steel girder replacement of Rail Over Bridge in between Dumdum and Dankuni has been completed on time and train operations in Sealdah Dankuni section is resumed exactly at 04:00 AM today (27.01.25). The massive work of regirdering at Bridge nos. 10, 11, 15 & 19 are successfully over. Laying of ballasted track in the all important section has also been done. The stupendous project started in wee hours on 23rd January and the herculean infrastructure development work has been completed just before schedule, i.e., 04:00 hours on 27th January.

This mega project is crucial for the growth and development of Railway transportation network, the lifeline of the nation. It will certainly augment safety, security, sectional speed and operational flexibility of the Sealdah – Dankuni section, through which about 40 Mail/Express trains and 22 pairs of EMU locals ply every day. Over 1000 labourers worked day and night throughout the 100 hours block, in tandem with engineers and officials of Eastern Railway.

Completion of this massive project is a testament to resilience and perseverance of dedicated and concerted endeavour by team Sealdah under inspiring leadership of Shri Milind K. Deouskar, General Manager/Eastern Railway. Regirdering and laying of track in the busy CCR section was plagued by numerous challenges including complex geological hurdle, steep height of the track and safety concerns as the entire Vivekananda Bridge, where the major rectification work took place, is situated on the river Ganges. Despite many obstacles, the dedicated construction team persevered, employed cutting edge technologies and innovative techniques to brave the impediments.

This is yet another stellar performance by Sealdah Division. It is pertinent to mention that, in the last June Sealdah division had upgraded all the platforms of Sealdah station to accommodate 12 coach trains. This instant feat of engineering in CCR Link will not only enhance connectivity, sectional speed and operational flexibility of Dumdum – Dankuni section but also demonstrates Sealdah Division’s capabilities in undertaking complex infrastructure projects.
