New Delhi : In a landmark move aimed at enhancing access to educational resources across India, Hon’ble Minister of Communications and Development of North Eastern Region, Shri Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, has announced the publication of the gazette notification for ‘Gyan Post’ — a new postal service designed to deliver educational, social, cultural, and religious books at highly affordable rates.
Launching the initiative, Minister Scindia stated, “Under the new education policy and syllabus, ‘Gyan Post’ serves as a vital delivery mechanism for ensuring that education reaches every individual.”

Gyan Post underscores India Post’s commitment to making education more inclusive, especially for students in remote and rural regions. With this service, textbooks, exam guides, and other printed learning materials can now reach the farthest corners of the country — all through India’s trusted and extensive postal network.
The new service is not just affordable — it is also trackable, ensuring greater transparency and reliability. Packages will be transported via surface mode, keeping costs low. Rates start at just ₹20 for packets up to 300 grams, with a maximum charge of ₹100 for parcels up to 5 kilograms (excluding applicable taxes).

Only non-commercial educational materials are eligible under the Gyan Post scheme. Materials with advertisements, or of a business nature, will not be accepted. Books must clearly state the name of the printer or publisher to qualify.
Operational at all departmental post offices nationwide from May 1, 2025, the Gyan Post initiative represents a powerful step forward in India’s mission to bridge the education divide.
