ICSI EIRC hosted a Teachers’ Conference in Kolkata with sessions on sustainability, AI in learning & the future of education

Kolkata : The Eastern India Regional Council (EIRC) of The Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) successfully organized a Teachers’ Conference on the theme “Empowering Educators” . The event, held at the ICSI-CCGRT Kolkata Campus, was specially curated for Higher Secondary School teachers from Kolkata and adjoining regions, who participated in large numbers with great enthusiasm.

Delivering the welcome address, CS Anuj Saraswat, Chairman, EIRC of ICSI, expressed gratitude to the Regional Council members for their collective efforts in ensuring the success of the event. He underlined the role of educators in shaping young minds and highlighted ICSI’s commitment to strengthening academic-industry linkages through such initiatives.

Although unable to attend in person, a message from the Chief Guest, Swami Jnanalokananda, Secretary, Swami Vivekananda’s Ancestral House and Cultural Centre, Ramakrishna Mission, Kolkata, was conveyed to the participants. He emphasized the timeless importance of teachers in nurturing holistic education.

The event also featured distinguished guests. Surajit Roy, WBCS (Exe.), Additional Director & Ex-Officio Special Secretary, Directorate of School Education, Government of West Bengal, graced the occasion as the Guest of Honour. Madhurima Acharya, recipient of the National Teachers’ Award 2025 from DPS New Town, Kolkata, joined as the Special Guest. Their insights inspired the audience, underscoring the value of continuous innovation and dedication in teaching.

In the inaugural session, CS (Dr.) Mohit Shaw, Former Chairman & Regional Council Member, proposed the formal vote of thanks, appreciating the collective contributions of speakers, teachers, and organizers.

The technical sessions brought forward contemporary perspectives on education. CS Priyanka Gathani, CFO, Metrics Numero Group, spoke on “Education of Sustainability and Governance at School Level – A Key Driver for Developed India,” stressing the importance of integrating sustainability concepts into school curricula. CS Rahul Parasrampuria, Company Secretary, addressed the gathering on “AI for Personalised Adaptive Learning and Gamification as a Learning Tool,” highlighting the transformative potential of artificial intelligence in education.

Additionally, a special session on Company Secretaryship was conducted, giving educators insights into the career opportunities the profession holds for students.

The conference not only celebrated the invaluable role of teachers but also created a platform for knowledge exchange on the evolving landscape of education. With its engaging discussions and thought-provoking deliberations, the programme successfully reinforced the theme of “Empowering Educators”.
