Siliguri: Harsh Vardhan Shringla celebrated Durga Puja in Siliguri with devotion and community spirit, blending tradition with contemporary initiatives such as the GST Bachat Utsav, Seva Parv and the promotion of Swadeshi goods under Atmanirbhar Bharat. The festivities also featured the unique Operation Sindoor–themed pandals.

At Phasidewa, accompanied by MLA Durga Murmu, Shringla offered prayers at the Puja mandap. Addressing the gathering, he praised the Government’s bold move under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji to reduce GST rates, describing it as a welfare-driven reform that provides direct relief to families during the festive season. He further emphasized that Atmanirbhar Bharat, powered by Swadeshi products and the call for Vocal for Local, is not just a government policy but a collective mission of the people.

Linking the celebrations with Seva Parv, Shringla, along with MLA Durga Murmu (Phasidewa) and MLA Anandamoy Barman (Naxalbari), visited North Bengal Medical College and Hospital. They met patients and health workers, commended their dedicated service, and distributed nutritious items as a goodwill gesture in the festive season.

In a major announcement, Shringla unveiled Rozgar Mela 2 under the Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana, which will bring leading companies to North Bengal to create new employment opportunities for local youth.

He acknowledged the efforts of party karyakartas at both the Puja mandap and the hospital for their active role in smooth organization and community outreach.

Shringla reiterated: “GST relief, Atmanirbhar Bharat through Swadeshi goods, Seva Parv, and Rozgar Mela 2 reflect the new India being built under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji.”
