Kolkata: In anticipation of the heavy passenger rush during the upcoming festive period—Kali Puja, Diwali and Chhath 2025—the Sealdah Division of Eastern Railway has introduced a comprehensive Passenger Regulation and Facilitation Plan to ensure smooth travel and enhanced convenience for commuters.
According to the plan, special entry and exit arrangements, additional EMU services, and round-the-clock passenger support have been put in place at Sealdah and adjoining stations.
Passenger Regulation Plan at Sealdah Station
Exit Gates:
- Passengers arriving on Platforms 1–5 from local/MEMU trains will exit through Prafulla Dwar.
- Platforms 6–10: Exit through North Gate.
- South Metro Gate, South Gate, and Parcel Gate will also remain open to ease crowd dispersal.
A portion of the parking area will function as a holding zone for non-suburban passengers, who will be allowed to enter the platforms only at the time of train departure.
Entry Gates:
- Entry via Dairy Shop through Main Gate
- Main Gate
- South Metro Gate and South Station Gate
- Prafulla Dwar
Passengers of Mail/Express trains will use the St. Ambulance Gate near the Traffic Police Post to avoid mixing with suburban commuters. Proper signage and volunteers will be deployed to guide passengers throughout the station premises.

- From October 20–24, 2025, no train will be handled at Platform 1 of Naihati after 13:00 hrs. Naihati locals will instead use Platforms 5 or 6.
- All EMU specials will stop at every station, including flag and halt stations.
- All ticket booking counters at Sealdah station will function 24×7 during the festive period.
- “May I Help You” booths will be operational at major stations including Sealdah, Naihati, Kolkata, Bidhannagar, Krishnanagar, Dum Dum Junction, Barrackpore, and Barasat, displaying helpline numbers for police, hospitals, and fire services.
The Eastern Railway, Sealdah Division has appealed to all passengers to cooperate with railway staff and adhere to the new regulations for a safe and seamless festive travel experience.
