Kolkata: Manipal Hospital, Mukundapur, part of one of India’s leading healthcare networks, celebrated Children’s Day with a vibrant and heartwarming programme on its campus, bringing together children, parents and paediatric specialists for a day of fun, learning and togetherness.
The celebration featured a series of engaging activities—including a fashion show, magic show, tattoo art corner, photo booth and a joyful cake-cutting ceremony. Children also participated in interactive health sessions where paediatricians shared simple, practical and family-friendly guidance on child well-being. Special gifts were distributed to all participants, adding to the festive spirit.
During the interactive sessions, doctors addressed essential topics such as managing seasonal infections, maintaining balanced nutrition, recognising early symptoms, adopting hygiene practices, and staying up to date with vaccinations. Emotional wellness was also highlighted, with experts encouraging parents to maintain open communication and strike a healthy balance between academics and play.
A distinguished panel of paediatricians led the sessions: Dr. Jemsy Jose, Dr. Sayantan Bhowmick, Dr. Paromita Nath, Dr. Runa Majumdar, Dr. Monideepa Dutta, Dr. Rajiv Sinha, Dr. Rana Saha and Dr. Bappaditya Mukhopadhyay.
As winter approaches, Dr. Sayantan Bhowmick, Associate Consultant – Paediatric Pulmonology, emphasised the rise in seasonal illnesses. “Colds and flu become increasingly common. Simple habits such as hydration, proper rest, good nutrition and regular hand hygiene can significantly reduce risks. Parents should stay alert to early symptoms, as prompt medical attention helps children recover faster and stay healthy through the season,” he said.
Dr. Monideepa Dutta, Consultant – Paediatrics, added, “Today’s Children’s Day programme reminds us to reconnect with the joy and simplicity of childhood by seeing the world as our children do. It is also an important reminder for parents to prioritise clean surroundings, follow timely vaccination schedules, and closely monitor newborns’ feeding and sleep habits to ensure good health.”
Parents expressed heartfelt appreciation for the initiative. One parent shared, “It was wonderful to see the hospital organise such an engaging and thoughtful event. My child had a fantastic time, and the interaction with the doctors was especially meaningful. Their practical tips and willingness to address our concerns were reassuring. The session offered credible advice that parents like us deeply value.”
The celebration concluded on a warm and joyous note, with enthusiastic participation from children, families, doctors and staff—making this Children’s Day a memorable one for the entire Manipal Hospital Mukundapur community.
