Kolkata : Titan has taken a significant step forward in its watchmaking journey with the launch of Vetra, its branded in-house mechanical movement platform, marking a new chapter in the company’s pursuit of advanced horological engineering. The new technology forms the foundation of the latest Titan Automatics collection, powered by the Vetra 7A series of mechanical movements.
With more than four decades of experience in watchmaking, Titan has steadily expanded its capabilities in craftsmanship, engineering and innovation. The introduction of Vetra reflects the company’s ambition to strengthen its position in modern horology while contributing to the growth of India’s indigenous watchmaking ecosystem.
Vetra represents the integration of engineering precision and artistic design. The name draws inspiration from “Veda”, associated with the Indian understanding of time as an abundant and continuously renewing cycle, and “Tra”, representing an instrument that channels force into tangible form. Together, the concept reflects Titan’s philosophy of combining technical excellence with purposeful design.
Titan Strengthens Its In-House Mechanical Watchmaking Capabilities
Commenting on the launch, Rahul Shukla, Vice-President and Chief Sales & Marketing Officer, Watches Division, Titan Company Limited, said that Vetra represents the potential of Indian watchmaking when engineering ambition is combined with the confidence to develop capabilities in-house.
According to Shukla, the launch places Titan among a relatively small global community of watchmakers developing their own in-house mechanical capabilities. He added that the initiative marks an important step towards strengthening India’s position in modern horology and supporting the development of a stronger domestic watchmaking ecosystem.
Four Distinct Expressions in the Titan Automatics Collection
The Vetra 7A series showcases a versatile movement architecture designed to support multiple mechanical functions. The new Titan Automatics collection features four distinct variants: Infinium, Dualis, Midnite and Atrium.
The watches feature cases crafted from 316L surgical-grade stainless steel, domed sapphire crystal with a three-layer anti-reflective coating, and a combination of vertical satin and polished finishes. Shaped crown guards contribute to their contemporary appearance, while X1-grade Swiss Super-LumiNova enhances readability in low-light conditions.
