Kolkata: Kolkata’s dessert lovers will soon have another familiar name to explore, as Mumbai-born patisserie brand Theobroma prepares to open its first two outlets in the city on October 30. The new stores, located in Salt Lake and New Alipore, will mark the brand’s entry into Eastern India.
The company announced its Kolkata launch in the presence of Rishi Gour, CEO of Theobroma, while actress Sauraseni Maitra also attended the store-opening event.
The entry comes amid growing interest in the brand among Kolkata consumers. Earlier this month, a video showing a Theobroma signboard being installed in the city gained traction on social media, drawing attention to the brand’s upcoming arrival.
Both outlets will offer dine-in, takeaway and delivery services. Customers will be able to choose from the brand’s range of brownies, cakes, pastries, cookies, savouries, sandwiches and beverages, with products baked fresh daily.
Among the offerings are Theobroma’s popular Overload and Millionaire brownies, along with Dutch Truffle cake and Tiramisu. Festive gift boxes and hampers will also be available for customers looking for gifting options during the upcoming festive season.
Speaking about the expansion, Rishi Gour said the company had received requests from Kolkata consumers and wanted to make its entry with its full range of offerings. He also highlighted the city’s strong connection with sweets and desserts, adding that the brand hopes to become part of everyday celebrations and family occasions.
With its first two outlets, Theobroma is looking to establish a presence in a city where traditional sweets have long been an important part of the food culture. Its performance in the coming months will indicate how its signature brownies, cakes and other bakery products appeal to Kolkata’s dessert market.
