Kolkata: In a bold move to enhance the cleanliness and hygiene standards across the division, Sealdah Division has taken stringent action against individuals who violate these norms. During the period of April to September 2024, division successfully collected a substantial amount in penalties for littering and smoking offenses.
A Cleanliness crusade under the visionary leadership of Sri Pawan Kumar, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Sealdah, and in alignment with the guidelines issued by Deepak Nigam, Divisional Railway Manager, Sealdah, division has intensified its efforts to maintain a pristine railway environment. A total of 865 cases were registered against individuals found guilty of littering, resulting in the imposition of penalties amounting to Rs. 114,800. Additionally, 136 cases of smoking were detected, leading to the collection of Rs. 27,200 in fines.
A call-to-action Divisional Railway Manager, Sealdah Deepak Nigam, has appealed to all passengers to join hands in this cleanliness movement. By emphasizing the collective responsibility of maintaining railway property, Nigam also urged passengers to refrain from littering and smoking within station premises. Sealdah division is committed to providing a clean, hygienic, and passenger-friendly environment, and the cooperation of every individual is crucial in achieving this goal.
